Inversely Related

Two things are inversely related when they always move in opposite directions.

When one goes up, the other goes down, and vice versa.

Opposite
One side rises, the other falls
Move the left side

When you push one side of a seesaw down, the other side goes up. They can never move in the same direction.

The slider still controls the seesaw. Watch how the dot moves on the graph.

Move the left side

When two things are inversely related, the graph slopes down from left to right. As one axis climbs, the other drops.

These terms will come up later in detail. For now, just notice: they follow the same pattern you just learned. Click to get a preview.

Frequency
Definition: How many times a sound wave repeats each second.
Example: Think of it like a heartbeat—a faster heartbeat means a higher frequency.
Period
Definition: How long it takes for one complete wave cycle.
Example: When frequency goes up, each cycle has less time to complete, so period goes down.
